            <title>Scheduled Database Maintenance</title>

            <description>May 11, 2013 - On Sunday, May 12 between midnight and 6 am, we will be performing an upgrade to our primary administrative database server. This necessary work will result in an outage of several administrative web applications for up to two hours. Several portlets in the University portal, my.Uchicago.edu, will also be unavailable.  During the outage, a note will appear in place of these sites informing users that the site is undergoing maintenance. We will test these sites after the upgrade is complete.</description>

            <title>Wireless Service Interruption</title>

            <description>May 8, 2013 - At approximately 12:40 p.m. a hard drive failure on a wireless gateway device disrupted non-secure wireless (SSID: uchicago) on the North side of campus.  ITS technicians were able to manually fail over to a redundant device and restore service by 12:55 p.m.  Secure wireless (SSID: uchicago-secure), Eduroam, and the Guest network were unaffected.</description>

            <title>Intercall Service Restored</title>

            <description>Apr. 30, 2013 - As of 2:15 p.m., access to the Intercall audioconference service has been fully restored.  If you are still seeing issues, please contact the ITS Service Desk at 2-5800.

Recap of event: At approximately 1 p.m., the toll-free dial-up number to the University's audioconference vendor, Intercall, stopped working.  Callers were unable to connect consistently via the toll-free number.  As of 2:15 p.m. Intercall believes that the issue has been resolved; ITS's tests are validating this belief.</description>

            <title>Problems with Intercall Audioconferences</title>

            <description>Apr. 30, 2013 - As of 1:30 p.m., ITS is aware of problems dialing in to the Intercall service used by the University for audioconferences.  Calls to the standard Intercall toll-free 866 number are not connecting consistently.  If you cannot get through to the automated service, you can still call into the University conference bridge by the direct number, +1-281-319-9162.  ITS is working with Intercall to restore normal service as soon as possible.</description>

            <title>CTV Maintenance Complete</title>

            <title>Emergency CTV Maintenance</title>

            <description>Apr. 22, 2013 - CTV will be unavailable beginning at 5 p.m. today for emergency maintenance to restore service to any set top boxes still experiencing access issues, and to prevent future service interruptions. We anticipate that the service will return to full functionality by 9:00 pm.</description>

            <description>Apr. 19, 2013 - As of 6 p.m., service to most cTV set-top boxes has been restored.  IT Services will continue to work over the weekend to fully restore set-top box service.             <description>Apr. 17, 2013 - Some guests and residents in International House, the Quad Club, and student housing are currently unable to access CTV programming via television set top boxes. We are working with our vendor and data center personnel to restore this service as soon as possible. We expect that set top box service will be restored before noon on Friday, April 19th. The CTV service continues to be available via a web browser from any computer using the wired network.</description>

            <title>RESOLVED:  Several services in IT Services data center disrupted</title>

            <description>March 26, 2013 - Beginning at 7:20am, high network traffic resulted in severe degradation or unavailability of several services in the IT Services data centers.  The source of the traffic volume was isolated, restoring normal service by 7:50am.</description>

            <title>RESOLVED: Phone Issues at Gleacher and 401 N Michigan</title>

            <description>Mar. 8, 2013 - As of 11 a.m., phone service to and from Gleacher and 401 N Michigan is operating normally.

Recap of event: At 7:50 a.m., IT Services began receiving reports that clients at the Gleacher location of the Booth School of Business were unable to place outbound phone calls, and that some inbound calls were also failing. Later reports confirmed that 401 N Michigan was experiencing the same problem. ITS technicians traced the problem to a configuration error in a network switch and fully restored service by 11 a.m.</description>

            <title>UPDATE - VoIP Issues at Gleacher, 401 N Michigan</title>

            <description>Mar. 8, 2013 - As of 9:30 a.m., ITS technicians have put in a workaround to temporarily restore outbound phone service to Gleacher and 401 N Michigan.  Some inbound calls are still failing.  ITS technicians are working to restore full service. The next status update will be at noon.

            <title>VoIP issues at Gleacher</title>

There's some indication that inbound calls are also failing.  We anticipate clients at 401 N. Michigan are having similar issues.  

IT Services technicians are working to resolve the issues.</description>

            <title>Power Restored</title>

            <description>Feb. 10, 2013 - As of 12:30 p.m., power has been restored to campus and the network in the affected locations has been fully restored.

Recap of event: At approximately 10:30 a.m., the south side of the Quads and some buildings east of the Quads between 58th and 59th St. lost electrical power; power was restored at approximately 12:30 p.m.  No ITS services were affected outside the buildings which lost power.</description>
