RESOLVED: Network and data center power issue

Aug. 14, 2014 - As of 10:00 pm, all services and network connectivity have been restored. Chalk is online and functioning normally, but without full redundancy. IT Services is working to restore this backup system.


Recap of event: At approximately 1:25 pm, two circuits were tripped in the 1155 E. 60th Street Data Center, resulting in a power outage, a mainframe outage, and network connectivity issues. The circuits were restored as of 1:40 pm, but the mainframe outage and network connectivity issues persisted through the evening. A vendor was able to assist in bringing the mainframe back online around 9:45 pm. ITS technicians fully restored network connectivity by 10 pm.
