Temporary sculpture removal
Crews will remove the Grande Disco sculpture in front of the Surgery Brain Research Pavilion on Saturday, Sept. 7 to begin a yearlong conservation project on the piece. Once the conservation process is complete, Grande Disco (Arnaldo Pomodoro, 1968) will return to campus in a location yet to be determined.
The campus community can expect the following on Sept. 7:
--A crane will be positioned on Ellis Avenue from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. to remove the sculpture.
--Construction fencing will be positioned around the site through Sept. 11.
--Vehicle traffic may be slightly delayed in front of the pavilion while the sculpture is removed.
