Ellis Avenue Street Closure between 56th and 57th streets

A portion of Ellis Avenue will be closed for through traffic between 56th and 57th streets from 8 a.m. on Friday, August 9, to 5 a.m. on Monday, August 12, and from 8 a.m. on Friday, September 6, to 5 a.m. on Monday, September 9.


The campus community can expect the following during this timeframe:

--CTA routes 171 and 172 will be rerouted from 55th Street and Ellis Avenue to 55th Street and Cottage Grove Avenue; the CTA bus stop at 55th Street and Ellis Avenue will be temporarily unavailable.

--UC Shuttles will be rerouted around the street closure, please see Transloc, and the Transportation and Parking website for schedule detail.

--The sidewalk along the east side of Ellis Avenue will be closed; signage for alternate and accessible pedestrian routes will be in place.

--Repaving along Ellis Avenue between 56th and 57th streets will occur throughout the day on August 12 and September 9, there will be intermittent traffic delays.

--Work will be noisy at times.

A reminder notice will be sent later in August for the September street closure.
