Lillie House announcement
The University of Chicago is undertaking work to stabilize the Lillie House, 5801 South Kenwood Avenue. This work will begin on Monday, September 24, 2012. The scope of the project includes the following:
--Contractor will work to stabilize the structural walls on the north, south, east and west sides of the Lillie House
--Tuck-pointing and caulking will occur to water-proof the structural walls
--Minor roof repairs will be made around the building
--Replacement of glass and windows as needed
--Sidewalk and drainage repairs will be made along the south side of 58th Street directly north of the building
--Structural scaffolding will be erected around the property, including overhead protection over the sidewalk along the south side of 58th Street during construction work
--Pedestrian access will be re-routed at times to the north sidewalk of 58th Street
--Project duration is 5 weeks, weather permitting
--Hours of operation will be 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M., including weekends
