Research Institutes Demolition (Update)
Location: Ellis Avenue & 57th Street
Duration: March 2, 2012 May 18, 2012
As construction work to advance the William Eckhardt Research Center Project progresses, the demolition of the Research Institutes (RI) building will continue through May 18th. The separation of the RI building from the Biopsychology and Accelerator buildings has been completed. The campus community can expect the following:
--Scaffolding will be erected on all sides of the RI building during the month of March to facilitate demolition of the roof.
--After the roof is removed, the scaffold will be taken down and the RI building will be demolished.
--The existing Ellis Avenue sidewalk closure and traffic lane reconfiguration will remain in effect.
--There are no anticipated additional street or sidewalk impacts.
--At times, the demolition will be noisy and may cause vibration.
--Working hours are 8AM-8PM and on weekends.
--Dust mitigation efforts will be in place on the project site, including water misters and wheel washing for trucks exiting the site.
